In a well made 52 inch walnut case, with ebony trim, glass 3 sides. Made by an accomplished cabinet maker. 8 day, 1 weight movement with Graham dead beat escapement and center sweep second hand, ca 1880. 6 1/2 inch porcelain dial has some damage in the 1 o'clock area extending to the winding arbor. It could be repaired. The old gridiron pendulum has been extended to fit the movement and case better. There is an old brass weight and a beat scale. If this movement were in the right Jones case it would be worth $4,000. One sold in Bob Schmitt's April 1998 Auction, for almost $2900.
