C.1850, Forestville Mfg. Co., 8-day, 2-wt, time and strike shelf clock. This double decker mahogany shelf clock is in overall good condition with original finish, losses noted. There are some veneer pieces missing on the base and on the flat areas below the upper door. The two mirrors, while old, are not original to the clock (look OK). The dial has some loss at the 3 o'clock position with a paint repair, but is still attractive. The hands are original. The bottom door was replaced long ago, made from solid mahogany and not veneered pine (well done w/ square nails and looks OK too). The original movement is in need of cleaning. A major portion of the label exists with an old print pasted above. There are holes in the base to indicate that this clock once had feet. The carvings, especially the splat, are well detailed; note horns of plenty spilling their contents. Height 36.75Ó $500-$600
