Musical Crystal Regulator, "L'Epee Liberty Clock, Franklin Mint, No. 0163". Offered by the Franklin Mint in 1986, a limited edition of 2500.

This is No.163 of that edition. This clock sold in 1986 for $2900 plus shipping and handling. The clock was made to commemorate the rededication of the Statue of Liberty. The dial is signed, "France", movement signed, "L'Epee, 1839, Made in France, 3, Three Jewels". The case is also signed "France". Live mercury pendulum. The bronze case is very heavy, 13 1/2 inches high, has 4 perfect beveled glasses. 8 day, brass round movement, S-F regulator on the back, strikes half hours on a brass bell. 2 piece porcelain dial. Music box in the base plays on the hours, alternates between 2 different tunes, "The Star Spangled Banner", and the French National Anthem. There is ripple trim around the top and base, carved columns on the 4 corners, outstanding capitals and bases, 4 large feet. This is the finest crystal regulator we have had in a long time, it is perfect, like new just out of the box. A very handsome, heavy, polished base. Everything is first class. It is definitely a keeper.
