E. N. Welch Mfg. Co. mantle clock, "Empress, V. P.", ca 1880.

Movement is 8 day, runs very good, strikes a nickel bell on the hours. There remains most of the old black label inside, hard to read unless in bright sunlight. The fancy 3 tube pendulum is correct for this clock and other similar Welch clocks. The paper dial is a replacement as is the glass. 17.5" mahogany veneer case is the largest of the several Empress models. The veneer is real nice except on the base, and with some mahogany stain you wouldnÕt notice the chipat the bottom front. Most of the gold gilt still intact around the glass. Ly-Welch No. 355.
