Ithaca Calendar Clock Co.Õs "No. 3-1/2 Parlor, Early Model", ca 1881.
We sold one of this model in each of the previous two catalogs. Both brought almost $5, 000. As I pointed out in previous catalogs the 3-1/2 models we have offered for sale differed slightly from pictures and description inthe Calendar books. For instance, the side moldings on the base are "early model" moldings, whereas the top moldings are "late model" moldings. This is definitely the "early model" as the movement mounts, bell mounts, calendar movement mounts are the early model type. The glass calendar dialand glass pendulum are original. The black time dial is new paper, but allwe have ever sold were replaced. The many carvings are all there and intactexcept the top finial has been broken and repaired, there is a chip on oneside and one front carving, and the lower bezel has some new solder. The 8 day movement runs nicely, strikes the nickel bell, and calendar changes as intended. The linkage between the clock movement and the calendar works has been reworked. The hands are contemporary and painted silver. The calendar hand is nickel plated and original. Part of the instruction label remains inside the lower door. Numerals and makers name have faded slightly on the lower glass. None of what I have said does not mean this is not a very nice and rare clock. Ly-Calendar, pages 132-135.
