Rare J. C. Brown Large Acorn Shelf Clock with sidearms, ca 1840Õs. The case is 100 percent original with excellent finish; painted dial original but plain, and has reverse painted decorations around the perimeter of the original upper glass. Lower glass completely original with painted scene of parted curtains and children. The lower glass is predominantly green and gold, enhanced by the green and gold reverse striping on the upper glass. 8 day fusee movement signed by Brown, with brass lyre plates, strikes a coil gong. The fusees andblocks are original and intact. It has a dust cover but no label. It neverhad a label and is not uncommon not to have a label. Original spade and spearhands. Overall the clock is 25" high and 15" at the base.
