Southern Calendar Clock Co., St. Louis, Mo. "Fashion No. 4" C. 1880.
Someone wanted a black face Fashion No. 6 so bad they just made one. Actually some people do change the dials and hands on the No. 5 and make No. 6's out of them. This is a great No. 4 walnut case, 32" high, nice original tipped finials, cleaned of most soot and grime that accumulates on these old clocks, and free of any nicks, scrapes, or repairs. The original hands, bezels, and damascened pendulum bob, are all nickel or nickel plated. This is a short pendulum model of the Seth Thomas large movement, and it strikes a large brass bell each hour. The black dials are excellent, professionally painted, with new black rollers also changed. The Fashion door glass and the gold paint in the incised board around both dials, are all very good. The black and gold label on the backboard and all the inside parts are clean and operating properly. This isn't a clock for the Fashion collector, but a super clock for someone who just wants one good looking black dial Fashion.
