Waltham Clock Co. banjo clock, C. 1910-1920. Reproduced by Waltham along the general lines of the early Willard banjo.
This clock, one of their Colonial Series, is 40.5" high, made of mahogany, with a brass eagle and brass side rails. The customer was given a choice of glasses. The various wood parts on this case are numbered, "O 30". The well made brass movement is 8 day, weight driven, and signed, "Waltham Clock Co. USA", and "6966". The painted metal dial is original, and signed "Waltham". Heavy brass sash with a bowed glass over the dial. Both glasses are original and near perfect. There is no evidence that the clock is not 100% original and it is in very nice condition. This clock has also been in a storage warehouse for a few years, so I would check the cable and give it some oil before running. It gives every indication it will run but I choose not to press my luck. You can see this clock and read about it in, Ly-Clocks, Volume 1; and the Waltham trade catalogs.
