J.C. Brown, Forestville, Conn. Superb overall condition on this full ripple onion top.
The original dial is signed, "J. C. Brown, Bristol, Ct. U.S.A.". An inattentive clock winder let the key slip a few times around the right arbor, otherwise a nice original dial. The full green label (slightly dark, but legible) says, "Forestville Manufacturing Co. J.C. Brown", and the movement says, "Forestville Manufacturing Co. Bristol, Conn". Plenty of signatures to authenticate this early, C. 1848, clock. Good sharp ripple all around, the top has only a tic off the back edge, the 4 finials are all original and each has a tic off the tip. 8 day movement is running unceasingly and strikes the hours on a coil gong. Mahogany veneer case is 20" high, original glasses, lower with some wear in upper left corner. This is a superb, untouched example of this model clock.
