Southern Calendar Clock Co. "Fashion No. 4T" ca 1878.
This is a rare model because it has an outside fly and the word "FASHION" engraved on the front plate. This was the last model using a short pendulum, visible between the two dials. Beginning with the No. 5 they used long pendulums. The bob, gong, and all dial rings, are nickel plated. The bob is the correct one for this model with circles etched all over. The time dial was repainted many years ago, the calendar dial more recent, and the seconds dial looks to be original. 32 inch high walnut case has been cleaned and polished, looks great if you like them polished. A splinter or two chipped off on the top, near the backboard. You would have to stand on a ladder to see it. The finials look almost perfect, but are all replacements. The clock came with the collection of excellent running clocks. We did have it oiled and checked to make sure it was running, and we put a coat of tongue oil on it because it looked dry. We believe it is ready to put to use. Ly-Calendar #677. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 65. Millers-Calendar Clocks, page 110.
