Ansonia Clock Co. "Antique Hanging", Ca about 1904.
This outstanding oak wall clock is from the collection of fine Ansonia clocks we bought last year. This long time collector did not have a clock that was not pristine. He wouldn't have a clock with a crusty original finish, but had them cleaned, brass polished, totally restored to near mint condition, to look like it may have just come from the factory. This model has more elaborate brass frieze scenes, and other ornate castings, than any clock we have seen. The only part of the clock that is not original is some of the top. The owner said the top got broken and rather than show an obvious break, he had part of the top made. The finials and castings are correct. We notice that this model regularly sells at auctions around the country close to 12,000 dollars, and more. You can get an up close look at the movement and various parts of this model clock by reading Tran Duy Ly's book, Ansonia Clocks & Watches, pages 178-179.
