Westclox "BIG BEN" alarm clock.
The Western Clock Company in Lasalle, Illinios made bedside alarm clocks of the most durable and sturdy quality. Their premier line was named BIG BEN and the case included 'peg-legs' (the two stubby feet on which the clock case rests) and a dual control on the top of the case which allowed the user to set it for ALARM/SILENT and STEADY/REPEAT. The alarm-silent switch was for obvious purposes and the Steady-Repeat switch allowed the sleeper to be awakened intermittently as the alarm sounds for a few moments and then becomes silent for another while and then repeats the ring again...on and off until the owner either got out of bed, switched the alarm off or threw the clock across the room!! This particular BIG BEN bears several Patent dates on the back-the most recent of which is October 1910. The nickle case has the usual and expected minor pitting on the rear. The dial is almost perfect. The clock runs well and keeps good time-or at least as good as one can expect from a clock that's been telling time for almost a century. Our price is better than others due to a fortunate purchase which we pass along to the next owner.Height: 7 in. (17.78 cm) Depth: 3 in. (7.62 cm) Width: 6 in. (15.24 cm) Weight: 1
