The Gilbert Clock Company of Winsted, Connecticut, produced a line of fancy "Gingerbread" mantel clocks which they called their CAPITOL SERIES. In the advertising material, they referred to a 'remarkable new carving process for producing the fancy design in the wood of the case'. In point of fact, these patterns were not carvings at all but were impressed or embossed into the Oak wood using a steam press and dies. At any rate, they are surely eye-catching...this one especially, because of the elaborate and eye-appealing patterns on the case (see photograph). The movement has been recently serviced and cleaned and is running well--keeping good time. The door glass is a later replacement exactly as it was in the original production line from the Gilbert factory. There is a sharp and clear label on the back of the case (see photograph). Overall...this is a real 'honey' of a clock and ready for your book case, mantel or kitchen wall shelf. Height: 23 in. (58.42 cm) Depth: 5 in. (12.70 cm) Width: 15 in. (38.10 cm) Weight: 3
