No. 25 St. John St. New York". That is a label error. It should have read "Mueller and Kroeber". Florence Kroeber and his father in law, Nicholas Mueller, opened a clock shop at that address about 1865. This is a very unusual clock by two early makers that is heavily carved. It is 18 inches tall, 16 inches wide, original dark walnut finish, twisted rope carvings across the top and front, carved shield on top, carved scrolled leaves on the side corners, and heavily carved lower door. Movement is 8 day, pinned, strikes hours on a wire gong, and running and striking properly. Old hands and pendulum, old nickel plated dial ring stamped "May 10, 1859". Black dial, wood bezel with original putty holding the glass in place.
