Ithaca Calendar Clock Company, "No 31/2 Parlor, Early Model", ca 1875. Original walnut case is 20.5 inches high, with ebony trimmings and elaborate carvings.
All the carvings are original but one of the thin wood leaves on top has a glue repair and there is a small chip on one of the front ornaments. The clock has been pampered, but over time, metal and wood will dry or split, and repairs must be made. I notice a small solder joint, or a piece of wood glued, but nothing that should concern anyone. I have sold a dozen of this model and they all have had a new paper dial on the top pan. The glass calendar dial and cut glass pendulum are original; however, the makers name and numerals have faded some over the last 125 years. The lyre pendulum hanger, bell, bezels, and hands are silver. If you have Mr. Ly's Calendar book you will see this clock on the front cover and if you compare this clock you will see it is identical. The movements have been properly serviced and are working properly. We have sold several of this model and watched the prices increase steadily in the last 5 years. The last two we sold brought over $5,000. Ly-Calendar, pages 132-133.
