F. Kroeber Clock Co. "Vienna Regulator No. 47", ca1880's.
The wood case is 47 inches long and the base wood is mahogany. Black paint was used to cover the mahogany and they advertised the clock as being "polished ebony". It has been cleaned and may have lost some of the polished look in the cleaning. It looks nice enough to hang in my house. All the finials, top, base, and the three glasses are original. Near perfect 2 piece porcelain dial, porcelain beat scale, and three hands. Brass dial rings, pulley, weight, and pendulum bob are polished. They did not polish the mounting bracket, can you believe it? The 8 day, time only, one weight movement, is running perfectly with a slow lazy, put you to sleep, tick. The movement is signed, "F.Kroeber N.Y.", and the number, "56745". The mounting bracket is also marked, "56745", while the pendulum hook is marked, "56742". This clock is pictured in all the Kroeber trade catalogs.
