Southern Calendar Clock Co., "Fashion No. 2", ca 1876.
Walnut veneer case is 31 inches high, has a very nice rubbed finish, clean of any old smoke accumulation. The bottom board has some veneer scabs. I had to lay the clock on its back to see the problems. There is a nasty place on the bottom left of the door. It should be repaired. Two places on the rounded top where veneer came off. They sanded, or filled and sanded, and now you can hardly see the missing veneer. I am knocking the case too much. It is really very nice. 8 day, bell strike, perpetual calendar. Finials are original but the stubs were so thin they set in the holes goofy. We put new bases on them and sized to fit the holes properly. The dials are good and we believe the paint is original. Very nice for a No. 2. A little veneer repair and the value would go up sharply. Ly-Calendar, page 283.
