Hoadley Miniature Alarm Timepiece.
The following was taken from the full case label, "First Quality/ Time Pieces with Alarm, / (Pivots bushed with ivory,)/Manufactured by/Silas Hoadley, /Plymouth, Conn." This 25.5 inches restored mahogany veneered case has three-quarter and quarter-round stenciled columns, plain wood splat, carved paw feet and finials. Top glass with original putty, bottom mirror appears old but secured with new putty. Full backboard label, clean and complete wood movement is functioning properly, correct old iron weights, and a very good original wood dial. The hands appear to be correct and there is a working door lock with escutcheon and key. A great deal more could be said about this early wood movement clock but if you are genuinely interested, you should read the articles by Bryan Rogers and Joseph Arvay in the NAWCC Bulletins. They pictured and discussed several case styles, movements, and labels; August 1996, page 501; June 1998, page 327.
