C.1875, Ithaca Calendar Clock Co., Index, Variant, Large in walnut, 8-day, time and bell strike.
Condition: the case has been nicely restored and the movement cleaned, and the clock appears to be in good operating order. The incising has been filled with gold paint and the workman went out of his lines in some places. This model is illustrated in Miller's Survey of American Clocks, Calendar Clocks. (1972), page 51, figure 138. There are some minor differences in the top trim on the 2 clocks, and based on our experience with this model, the one in the book has its top incorrectly restored. Our clock has had the 2 top side returns and 2 caps replaced; the glass with some scratches on the gilt "INDEX"; minute hand is replaced (looks ok). Typical of many Index models, the lower dial states: Manufactured for Lynch Brothers. Height 32.25 inches
