Condition: the original finish and stenciling are intact under some shiny over-coat. Most interesting is the triple signed exterior, with superior J.C.Brown signature on the dial, J.C.Brown portrait tablet, and "J.C.Brown Manufactured" stencil on the case. Retains a great label of Upson Brothers, Marion, Conn; they bought cases and movement, assembling them in Marion and were only in business for a few years around 1850. Has its original B+I ribbed plate, 8-day movement, often seen in other Upson Bros clocks. An excellent example of an early Connecticut cottage clock. Ht 15" [38cm]
