C.1835, Massachusetts, Attleboro Banjo, 8-day weight driven timepiece, with a letter from Shorty LaRose, who made the side-arms for the clock in 1975.

Condition: Mahogany and mahogany veneered case in nice condition with remains of an old and possibly original finish. There is a small veneer piece missing on the bottom door frame. On the dial bezel there is a very small piece of wood missing near mounting hinge, Original dial and hands are good. Movement is attached in the case with two screws through the one-piece pine backboard. Mirrors are period and maybe original, although one usually finds these cases with black glasses. Weight is cast iron, which is typical for this period. The J-hook latch to secure the door is the design typically used by Tifft. Included is a letter from Shorty LaRose to Mr. Cohen, regarding the side-arms and telling him he felt the clock was by Horace Tifft, however we see no firm evidence. Ht 33.5" [85 cm]
