Ornate Tall Case Clock with Works by Elliott,
London, ca 1900, in mahogany with poplar secondary wood. The hood has a broken-arch pediment, tombstone door, columns, applied carving and urn finials. The waist has fluted quarter columns, applied carved and brass decoration, and a beveled glass door. The raised-panel base has a carved and applied shell and ogee bracket feet. The brass movement is signed Elliott, London and has a brass dial with a calendar wheel depicting the sun and moon. With both Westminster and Whittington chimes. Retains weights and pendulum, and in an older finish; 98" high x 21.75" wide x 14" deep. Though not listed in Tran Duy Ly, this clock bears a strong resemblance to the tall clocks made and retailed by the Tobey Furniture Company of Chicago.
