in pine, hood with modified broken-arch pediment and tombstone door, case with thumb-moulded door and bracket feet. Wooden time and strike movement with polychrome-painted dial with floral and gilt decoration in the dial arch and spandrels. Inside the chapter ring is printed R. WHITING WINCHESTER above two apiaries. 86" x 17" x 9.25". Riley Whiting (d. 1835), worked in Winchester and Winsted, Connecticut. He worked with Samuel Hoadley early in his career, but was on his own by 1819. Condition report Dial VG, case only G. We do not guarantee the working order of clocks or watches.
