Pittsburgh, sold as the "Chelsea" model in both ship's bell and non-striking clocks ca 1923-1929, and pictured in Chelsea's Catalog K dated March 1, 1923. This example is eight-day time only, with plain silvered dial, black Arabic numerals, seconds bit at 12 o'clock, black enamel "moon" hands and fast-slow regulator. In polished bronze or "red" brass case with hinged bezel. Engraved on dial Chelsea inside seconds bit and retailer's name GROGAN COMPANY / PITTSBURGH above 6 o'clock. Serial #111971 engraved on works and on back of flange; dial measures 12" diameter; bezel and back flange about 14.5" diameter; weight 25 pounds. See Cowan's Auctions, February 18, 2006, lot 430 for a nearly identical example. Condition report Dial yellowed and needs to be cleaned; hands and outside hinge screws not original.
