in mahogany, with scalloped arched top and applied burl wood panel in tympanum. Hood has foliate-carved decoration, and beveled glass sides on case. Arched door has two panes of beveled glass, retains original hardware, and has brass plaque on inside reading, Herschede Hall Clock Co. Cincinnati, Ohio USA Panama Pacific International Exposition 1915 Grand Prize. Case has full-length, free-standing fluted columns. Base has square columns overtop carved feet. Burl wood panels decorate these columns and center of base. Fancy brass dial has foliate brass decoration applied to spandrels and inside chapter ring, and enameled moon dial in dial arch. Brass works have levers to choose strike or silent and chime or silent, and offer three chimes: Whittington, Westminster, and Canterbury. Access to works is provided by a removable cloth panel in back. Clock retains original finish and key. Serial #45721. A very grand clock. 82" high x 19.5" wide x 14" deep.Ex Paul A.
