No where can I find that Gilbert had a company by this name, but that is on the label. I am going to assume he made this clock in 1840 when he moved from Bristol to Winsted, a village within the town of Winchester, Conn.. The next year he had two partners and a different name. The scrolls and four feet are original to the 32" high mahogany veneered case. Both scrolls have been broken and glued back. Good original glasses, painted dial, old hands, a brass bob and key, and a label over 90 percent in place. The 30 hour brass movement is powered by two iron weights. The movement is signed the same as the label, "Wm. L. Gilbert / Winchester, Conn.". I do not see this model pictured in any books.
