Marshall and Adams, Seneca Falls, N.Y., "Large Empire" shelf clock, 8 day, time and gong strike, weight driven movement in mahogany veneer case resting on bold carved claw feet with painted wooden dial and four reverse painted tablets (one in backboard), c1835 the case is in excellent original condition including original finish, veneer, carving and Sandwhich glass pulls. There is a minor veneer repair on the right cornice return. The four glass tablets are in excellent condition with one crack in the tablet inset into backboard, which is a silk screen depiction of Saratoga Springs. The hands are replacements. The movement in this clock is the less common version used by Marshall and Adams. For a similar example of this rare model with the painted tablet in the backboard see lot 386, an S.B.
