French silver and nickel plate, 8 day, time and strike, temple-form metal mantel clock, c1880
Anonymous (not verified)
24 October 2024
the top figures and other cast accents appear to be silver plate, and the rest a polished and lacquered base metal, on this unusual ornate case modeled after a small round garden temple. The porcelain dial has a few faint hairlines, and the tiny lettering of its inked retailer name has worn so we cannot decipher it. The thick beveled glass is fine, and the Japy Freres movement has rack and snail striking on a rear bell. Ht 18"
