Mills & Co., New York, "Year Clock Co"., two weight, 8 days, shelf clock, torsion suspension and 3-ball pendulum, in a walnut case, c1850 the top dust cover got lost and Dr. Shaffer made a new one and veneered same, attaching it to the 2 original hinges. That dust cover is simply raised for stringing cord across the wooden rollers. Case, except for very top, retains original crazed finish. Dial, etched tablet and label are original. Unfortunately the 3-ball pendulum is home-made, and is slightly too large in diameter, such that it interferes with the case back and door glass. Ht 21"
