Wills was making tall clocks from about 1725 to 1759. The dark colonial blue paint was renewed maybe 50 years ago, and showing losses and nice discoloration in some places. Minor restoration to hood; finals original. Dial, hands, pendulum, pulley, and other hardware original; lead weight a replacement. Movement has been serviced and is running and striking robustly. This clock has a 30-hour lantern clock style movement. A very important Philadelphia maker. There is a time at the height of interest in tall clocks, when this lot would have fetched 10,000 dollars.
