the original rear dust cover for this clock got lost and has been nicely replaced with a carefully fit piece of plywood. The well made time and strike movement with open Brocot escapement on the dial, with original sapphire pallets. Porcelain enamel is all excellent. Signature of clock dealer /maker is clear and sharp. The calendar dial is also in excellent condition, showing the days and months in French, and the rolling moon flanked by two female figures of knowledge, one writing her book and the second resting her arm on a globe. Note this calendar movement corrects for short months and leap year, when properly set up. Time movement with full imprint of Detouche, plus mark of Japy showing 1855 Grand Prize Paris medallion.
