John Sawin, Boston, Mass., ÓLyre BanjoÒ wall clock, 8 days, time only, weight driven movement in a mahogany case with carved foliate throat, Prince of Wales finial and hardwood back board with a painted iron dial signed ÓJ. SawinÒ in script and reverse painted throat and lower tablets, c1820 the case retains most of its original finish rubbed down and the carved throat has an age split. The tablets are old repaints. The dial has minor inpaint near 11 and has a good original signature. The pendulum bob and weight are replacements and the tie down is absent. The movement crutch has replaced by a more modern brass one. Overlooking these few minor blemishes, this is a nice example of an early pre-factory lyre time piece. Ht 41Ó
