The Attracto Company, Philadelphia, Penn., jeweler's advertising display, spring driven pendulum movement in a wood case powering a velvet covered butterfly with moving wings, 12 finger ring holders on the wings corresponding to the birthstone for each
The wood case is in good condition, with only minor bumps and scratches. There is a small metal tag with the company name on right side of the case. There is an inner paper label, but it is difficult to read. The black velvet backing on the front of the display is in very good shape. The pink velvet on butterfly's wings is a little faded from time in the sun, but looks quite good. Two of the twelve ring holders are broken. The unsigned spring driven movement with simple escapement is dirty but works very well. The clock-like dial below the butterfly has a single hand that advances with each flap of the butterfly's wings. Finger rings were placed in the holders mounted to the wings. When placed in a window, the moving sign and sunlight hitting the birthstones was sure to attract attention. The unit runs for several hours on a single winding.
