James Cole, Rochester, New Hampshire, 8 day, weight brass movement patent or banjo wall timepiece.
Mahogany and gilt banjo in original finish. Original gilding. The original throat tablet is cracked. Bottom tablet is original also. Original dial has the faint remains of the original signature. It has wear to the chapter ring and some loss at the mounting pins. Original hands. Movement is mounted to the case with through bolts. The metal that can be seen from the back of the head are slugs of lead that were melted in place to accept the end of the through bolts. Melting the lead in place charred the wood around the holes. There are two empty screw holes located on the diagonals opposite where the two lead-filled holes are located. The movement sits on two small shims added to the top of the throat pieces. The bottom board has been replaced as a result of weight damage. Replaced finial.
