Shelf or Mantel Tambour
Chelsea Clock Co., Boston, Mass., "Tambour No. 1" mantel clock, 8 day, time and house strike, spring driven balance wheel movement with lever escapement in a polished brass case on ball feet with a six inch silvered dial and applied brass numerals.
The brass case is in excellent condition, having been polished fairly recently. The dial has been resilvered, so it looks very good. The dial is not signed. The applied brass numerals indicate that this is one of Chelsea's "Special" dials. The hands are correct. The signed movement is serial number 81049.

the heavy brass case has a slightly dark patina. Some glue or lacquer residue around the back door. Silvered dial is in good condition as is the convex beveled glass. Movement ticks briskly, but was not tested long term.

the solid wood case, silvered dial and beveled convex glass on this example all are in very good original condition. Small loses to black within some of the numbers on the dial. The jeweled movement ticks and strikes, but was not tested long term.

The oak case has been refinished. The silvered dial and the hands are correct and in nice condition, The movement is signed.

A beautiful highly polished heavy brass case on a polished bronze base is in overall very nice condition, but has a scratch on the left side. Original silvered dial has some paint loss to the numbers and some tarnish to a couple small areas on the outer edge. Original hands.
Chelsea Clock Co., Boston, Mass., "Boston Series", 8 days, time and strike spring brass lever movement ship's strike brass case clock. The "Boston", series of clocks were imported from the Hermle Corporation of Germany and offered at a much lower price.
Heavy cast brass case has some surface tarnish from the breakdown of the lacquer finish. Silvered metal dial has some surface tarnish and a scratch between the winding arbors and small scratches at the winding arbors. Original hands. The bezel glass is loose and will attention. The case is currently mounted on a home made base. Clock is running.
