Shelf or Mantel Cottage

Jerome & Co., New Haven, Conn., cottage clock, 30-hour, time and strike with lamp-lighting burglar alarm, spring driven movement in a mahogany veneered case with decorative thermoplastic inserts in upper and lower parts of door, painted metal dial, and

Mahogany veneered cottage style case has a few dings and may have been given a new coat of clear finish. The painted metal dial has losses and the opposite side is also painted. Hands are period, but a bit early for this clock. Nice wood label inside of the door. The alarm triggers a lighting device on the top of the case. Matches are placed in the upright cylinder next to the oil lamp wick. An abrasive strip is held in the jaws of a spring loaded clamp.

Rosewood veneered case in original finish has minor loss on the base and a small crack near 11 o'clock. Original painted dial has some loss at the mounting screws and a scratch at 7 0'clock. Original hands and a clean label inside. Movement is signed.

Winterhalder & Hofmeier, Schwarzenbach, Germany, 8 day double fusee Westminster chime movement in a rounded Gothic style case on bun feet, with round silvered brass dial showing Roman numerals, c1900.

the case has a nice original finish with a few minor dings. Brass is showing through in several place on the silvered dial. The convex beveled glass is fine. Fusees with new nylon cord. Robust square movement with the W&H trademark chimes the quarter hours on coil gongs. Movement ticks and chimes, but was not tested long term. W & H had perfected a two train movement that could provide chimes on the quarter hours.

E. Ingraham & Co., Bristol, Conn., "Grecian Mosaic" shelf clock with a spring driven 30 hour time, strike and alarm movement in a walnut and maple case.

The case has some original finish. The original painted dial has loss below the numeral twelve. The hands are original. The label inside the case is excellent. The door glass is original. The movement is signed.

Rosewood veneered case with applied gold decoration in original finish has some veneer loss on the base right side and couple small chips on the front. Original painted dial has a couple small areas of paint loss. Original hands. Dark label inside. Movement has original brass springs. The background on the door glasses has been restored.

The case retains some original finish, The original dial pan has been repainted. The hands are original, but have been repaired. The bezel glass has age and is likely original. The movement is signed. This is a scarce model rarely found.

Morse & Co., Plymouth, Conn., 8 day, time and strike spring driven movement cottage clock.

Black and gold painted case with MOP in original finish that has age darkened. On piece of MOP is missing on the top front edge. Original painted dial signed: "Polished Pinions No. 1" has some minor loss at the mounting screws, the wind arbors and along the edge. The movement is stamped "Morse No. 1". The dial glass has background loss. The lower tablet has loss as well. The hands are proper style, but probably replacements. Morse supplied movements to numerous firms, so this clock may not have been sold as a Morse product.

Bradley Manf'g Co., Southington, Conn. cottage clock with a spring driven, 8 day, time and strike movement in a rosewood veneered case.

The case has been covered with a dark finish. The original painted dial has minor loss at the winding holes. The hands are original. The two door glasses are original with loss to the decalcomania tablet.
