Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co. mantle clock, "Tuscan", C. 1913.
The case stands 19" high, was made using green onyx for the base, 4 columns, and top, while the other parts are metal which came originally with a rich gold plate finish. In recent years the metal was painted gold while the green onyx remains just as beautiful as the day the clock was made. It is 8 day, hour and half hour strike on a small nickel bell, French style, round movement, bell attached to the movement. Metal back door. Imitation mercury pendulum drops thru the movement housing to swing just above the onyx base. Running very well. The dial is porcelain, 2 piece, visible escapement, original thin hands. This clock has been widely collected therefore seldom seen for sale. All original, very nice throughout, would be perfect if it retained the original gold plating. Ly-Gilbert #820.
