U.S. Clock & Case Co. Cincinnati, USA, Pat. Feb.16,1883, on the back of a black marble case.
The NAWCC Bulletin Index makes no reference to this company. The case is a boat anchor with a multitude of problems, ie broken corners, chips all over. I should have thrown the case away and spoke to the desirable parts. I can count on one hand the number of Seth Thomas movements I have seen that were open escapement. Round 8 day movement with outside count wheel, signed by Seth Thomas, Thomaston. The 2 piece porcelain dial, French sash, beveled glass, ring on the back of the case with attachment to hold the front dial in place, and the metal back door with cutout designs, are all good enough to put in another case. In addition there is the heavy Seth Thomas cathedral gong and stand, but no pendulum. Someone should buy the clock just for research purposes.
