C.1820, Austrian, Gilded Frame Grand Sonnerie wall clock 8-Day, with pull wind 2-tune music box in base, as-found.
Condition: this clock has suffered in its life; the original gold leaf has been painted over with gold paint. The bezel for the dial is absent, and the porcelain dial with hairlines. The dial plate is now screwed to the wooden case with sheet metal screws. The pendulum bob is OK, but the rod has been replaced with a narrow piece of sheet brass, a hook added for the silk suspension. The music box has had some amateur solder repairs, but all teeth are intact, and it plays in a lively fashion. A trip lever from the movement actuates the music periodically during the day. The outer frame and glass cover are absent, now with a strip of commercial molding hiding the former attachment. It is uncommon to find these clocks with larger 8-day movements. Height 20 inches
