C.1875, Welch-Spring, for D. J. Gale, Drop Calendar No. 1, in a rosewood case, having unusual dial without sunrise and sunset numbers.

23 October 2024
Condition: overall very good original condition, the only thing keeping it from being excellent is wear to the inside Welch, Spring and Co label [virtually all the gold has been rubbed off over time]. The painted dial is original, with some touch-up at the right winding hole. Has a Fabulous Gale instruction label glued behind the tablet [this is almost always gone]. This model, less sunrise and sunset, is shown in Ly's book titled Calendar Clocks, page 48, fig 94. Note the movement and hand indications are identical, it is only that the times were not painted on this version of the dial. Dial still indicates his 1871 patent. Height 30 inches
