Riley Whiting Ct. Wooden Works Clock in Ohio Painted Tall Case, pine and poplar. Unusual case with flat top hood and reeded cornice that never had a glazed door. Trunk has reeded cove molding at the top, a snipe hinge door, and original wood pull. Feet were removed from base long ago. Case decorated with a wonderful old, grungy blue-green painted surface with gold painted stringing. Original polychrome arched dial, flower-decorated spandrels, vase and flowers in dial arch. Wooden 30-hour works signed Whiting and Winchester for Riley Whiting who worked in Winchester, CT in early 19th century. 77" high x 16" wide x 10" deep.As above, with old repairs to the door, wear to dial, could use a cleaning; G.
