Massachusetts, 8 day, weight brass movement banded mahogany case patent or banjo timepiece, c1812. This timepiece could be by Aaron Willard, Jr., as an example of the movement in this timepiece matches one pictured in "Willard's Patent Timepieces" by

Mahogany banded case in an old finish with a one piece mahogany backboard with small repairs to the veneer in a couple of places on the bottom door and on the throat door. There is a repair on the head at the left side sidearm. The throat glass looks to be original with some repairs. Bottom tablet is a replacement. The doors are stamped "XVI". Brass T-bridge, step train movement that probably had through bolts originally, but now fastened to the case with screws through the backboard. Original painted dial that fastens to the case with three L-turns with some loss at one o'clock and on the edge at about 7:30. Hands are original. Finial, while old is not original. Ht 34"
