Joseph Ives, Plainville, Conn., "Hour Glass" mantle clock, 30 hour, time and strike, powered by single "wagon-spring" attached inside the top of the case with fixed lantern pinions instead of typical Ives rolling pinions, A cast iron frame supports the movement and spiral gong base in an hour glass shaped mahogany veneer case with reverse painted lower tablet and turned columns with urn finials. The brass dial has a raised chapter ring with painted black numerals. the case has been refinished and has a faded appearance. The original veneer has splits and repairs throughout. The lower tablet has been professionally repainted. The dial has some spotting and there is moderate loss to the numerals. However, this is a very rare Ives model which seldom comes to market,
